With the votes in favor of the municipal government and the abstention of the opposition, the Plenary of Candelaria yesterday initially approved the budget for 2022, for an amount of 24,597,692 euros, which represents an increase of 5.86% compared to the previous year . The Councilor for Finance, Airam Pérez, argued that the document is based on maintaining social policies, promoting employment and entrepreneurship, betting on culture and sports and public investment.

In the case of employment, it includes the municipal contributions to the four Employment Training Programs (PFAE) that were granted to the Consistory by the Canarian Employment Service. In this line, the Insertion Company will create six new insertion places.

In Social Services, we continue to focus on home help, the Food Bank and the social emergency, among others, increasing items such as the Addiction Prevention Plan or the rehabilitation of homes.

Remarkable, with an investment of almost one million euros, are the subsidies to groups, among which are social, cultural and sports entities, adding this year a contribution to the Farmer’s Market Association.

Candelaria’s budget includes funding for sanitation, €150,000 (including €50,000 for the industrial treatment plant in the Polígono de Güímar), while €190,000 are earmarked for Urban Planning and Management for drafting projects.

Rural and Fishing Development rises for improvement actions in the fishing dock and its surroundings. This increase also affects Culture and Festivals, with the forecast that activity prior to the pandemic will recover. Among the increases, the 57.58% for Transportation on Demand stands out, reaching 248,969 euros.

The plenary was informed of the appointment of Reinaldo Triviño as Councilor for Management and Urban Planning and Housing, and that he will have exclusive dedication with a salary of 39,000 euros per year.
