SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 24 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Government of the Canary Islands has given the go-ahead in the Governing Council to account for the subsidies granted directly by the Ministry of Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, in order to help alleviate the negative effects caused by the volcanic eruption of La Palma, for an amount greater than 5.3 million.

Specifically, during the last quarter of last year, a total of 2,094,935.09 euros in emergency aid was granted to numerous people, as well as to social entities and city councils on the island.

The objective of this aid has been to finance programs aimed at improving the response capacity in care for children and families in the emergency situation resulting from the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, the expenses derived from the Care program for people without resources in the soup kitchen or family support projects, among other programs.

In application of the General Law on Subsidies, the Government will be informed on a quarterly basis of the direct aid granted that accredits reasons of social, economic or humanitarian interest or other duly justified whose amount does not exceed 150,000 euros, by the head of the respective department. .

In addition, in accordance with Decree Law 12/2021, of September 30, which adopts tax, organizational and management measures as a result of the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma, during the last quarter a subsidy has been granted of 400,000 euros to the Town Hall of Tazacorte to cover the total expenses derived from the program ‘Emergency Cumbre Vieja Volcano 2021 second phase’.

In addition, another grant of 378,448.47 euros has been awarded to the City Council of Los Llanos de Aridane to cover the expenses derived from the project ‘Extraordinary extension to cover emergency needs generated by the volcanic eruption on the island of La Palma II’ as well as a subsidy of 400,000 euros to the City Council of El Paso to meet the expenses derived from the program ‘Continuation program to reinforce the Social Services of the City Council of El Paso’, for a total amount of 3,273,383.56 euros, for which the The totality of these direct subsidies granted during the last quarter of 2021 amounted to 5,368,318.65 euros.
