Rescued a paraglider who fell into a ravine and spent the night in the open

The Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) of the Government of the Canary Islands has rescued a paraglider who suffered an accident and fell into the Ifonche barrando, in Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, and who spent the night in the open until being evacuated by helicopter first thing this Wednesday.

Despite the ostentatiousness of the fall, the woman was unharmed, indicate sources from 112 Canarias, who received the alert at 7:23 p.m. on Tuesday.

The activated emergency services assessed the possibilities of carrying out the rescue by land in adequate safety conditions, an issue that they finally ruled out due to the orography of the terrain and the arrival of night.

The 112 contacted the paraglider and informed her that her rescue would take place the following day, while giving her the corresponding instructions to take the appropriate security measures until the arrival of the emergency services.

First thing this morning, he contacted the affected person again to check her location and her state of health.

Subsequently, the GES helicopter located the paraglider and proceeded to rescue her and evacuate her to the Adeje Volunteer Fire Department helipad.

Once on land, the staff of the Canarian Emergency Service evaluated and assisted the affected woman, who refused to be transferred to a health center.

Members of the Tenerife Firefighters Consortium ensured the landing and takeoff maneuvers of the helicopter on the helipad.

The Civil Guard collaborated in the rescue tasks and instructed proceedings, and the Local Police collaborated with the emergency services.
