SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 22 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The president of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, said this Tuesday that the Executive is working on planning to complete all the OPEs in June, with the necessary places, so that the selective tests are carried out in the second semester and in December solved the abuse of temporality.
In response to a question from the Mixed Group, he acknowledged “difficulties” with the unions but guaranteed that it would be “resolved”, as required by the European Union, but made it clear that the agreement must have “legal coverage”.
He has recognized that he has family members working in the administration under an abusive regime and denied that he turns a “deaf ear” to the demands of the workers, as the Mixed Group denounces, while stressing that the ‘Iceta law’ is “very important ” because it gives legal support to the rules, which in the case of the Canary Islands, has taken “the maximum” of what is allowed.
The spokeswoman for the Mixed Group, Vidina Espino, has said that the Government has been “for more than a year turning its back on the employees”, who suffer the “wear and tear” of being on strike and working in fraud of the law and with a “pattern” that “ignores” them.
He has accused Torres of not negotiating with the strike committee and has warned that the EU is going to open an investigation for non-compliance with the sentence.
Espino has warned that many workers, especially those over 50, are “terrified” because after more than 20 years in a situation of abuse, they are now being offered an opposition contest and “ignoring” the agreement that was reached in April to seek another formula .
In his opinion, the Government “wants to extend deadlines” to “impose” its criteria, for which reason it has urged Torres to have “empathy” and meet with the workers.
