Tenerife will host next year the XXI International Conference of Science and Technology Parks as the culmination of the activities for the XV anniversary of the Tenerife center, which depends on the Cabildo. The Island has been designated as the venue for this meeting for 2023 during the Transfer Forum held in Malaga last week. There it obtained the unanimous support of the general assembly of the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE). The island councilor for Innovation, Enrique Arriaga, who defended the candidacy, explains that this forum “will be a meeting point and debate” on the role of these public entities “as large centers of research and development of the productive fabric.” There, the impact of virtual worlds, artificial intelligence and the security and privacy of transactions on society and the economy will be addressed.
The conference will serve as an axis for those responsible for the different science and technology parks in Spain, as well as for the industrial fabric that is committed to the development of R&D&i. It will also bring together institutional representatives and researchers. all these agents They will discuss the role that parks will have to play in the future.
15th anniversary.
The conference will be the ccompletion of a year of various activities and programs within the framework of the 15th anniversary of the park in Tenerife. These types of acts “are relevant for the Island and crucial when it comes to making visible the work carried out in PCTT at a national and international level,” says Minister Arriaga. This APTE international meeting will be held under the slogan Metaverse and Blockchain: Researching for the future. It will make it possible to analyze the impact that virtual worlds will have, as well as the changes that they will produce in the development of companies. It will also discuss how technology parks can foster opportunities for an economy based on new technologies and artificial intelligence. The proposal presented by PCTT includes, among other actions, three presentations by specialists in the sector and a round table with real cases on the Island linked to artificial intelligence.
National agreement.
Within the Malaga congress, Minister Arriaga signed the agreement that will promote the detection of 100 business ideas and the acceleration of 32 startups in eight autonomous communities. The agreement facilitates and promotes the creation of technology-based companies, in addition to reducing the obstacles they face during their development.
The National Innovation Company (Enisa) and the Association of Science and Technology Parks of Spain (APTE), of which PCTT is a member, have also signed the document, within the framework of Transfiere, the professional and multisectoral European forum for the transfer of knowledge and technology held in Malaga.
With the Aptenisa agreement, entrepreneurs are promoted and supported through experienced managers, investors, scientists, advisers and managers in the development of their products, services and business models.
Creation of companies.
Enrique Arriaga explains that “This agreement will allow the development of activities and generate facilities for the creation and growth of new startups in Tenerife” in order to fulfill the PCTT objective of promoting and fostering entrepreneurship on the Island. Arriaga points out that “Aptenisa will support entrepreneurship from the initial idea to the acceleration phase, validation of the business model and constitution.” It will take into account both the territorial gap, both in terms of connectivity and the lack of a gender perspective, in order to promote initiatives that promote digitization or the implementation of technologies in the different sectors, as well as female entrepreneurship.
Pilot program.
The Aptenisa pilot program will begin with horizontal training for participants, in an online format.
