Canarian Coalition (CC) requires the Government of the Canary Islands and the Cabildo de Tenerife to build more than 100 social homes in Guía de Isora. “It is truly irresponsible and careless that, having given various plots to the Government of the Canary Islands, the mayor has not demanded it” taking into account that there are more than 500 applications registered in the City Council “by families who need a place to live”.
This is stated by Yapci Prieto, municipal spokesperson for CC, who assures that the socialist municipal governments of the last 25 years “have limited themselves to ordering and reordering, over and over again, the list of applicants for social housing with the sole purpose of making them believe that they are doing things and processing their construction, when reality shows that there are no projects prepared for this purpose».
The nationalist deputy, Rosa Dávila, described as “scandalous” that “while CC governed in the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands, the socialists of Guía de Isora demanded more social housing than the 12 that were built, and now, who governs their own party, the silence is absolute and they prefer to ignore the requests of the people most in need rather than demand that the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, assume his powers and provide the municipality with the more than 100 homes planned for the different parcels destined for it.
Resuming the construction of the residence for the elderly is another demand that Dávila will take to the Canarian Parliament. The work has been paralyzed since November 2019, a few months after the regional and island governments were configured, clarifies CC. The deputy warned that “in the absence of social and health places, the implementation of this infrastructure must be a priority for all institutions.” The Secretary of Organization of the Tenerife nationalists also highlighted that “it was CC in the Cabildo, during the previous mandate, who processed the entire procedure and put the residence under construction, being paralyzed a few months after the arrival of the PSOE to the Cabildo, precisely with Pedro Martin as president.
