SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 21 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Popular Party in the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has demanded that the Port Authority return to its place the propeller of the Canarias cruise ship and the bust of Cándido García San Juan, which have been removed from the city port, until it is approved definitively the Catalog of Francoist vestiges prepared by the Government of the Canary Islands.

Councilor Guillermo Díaz Guerra has wanted to recall that his political formation has already announced that he will request the challenge of that catalog, taking into account that the Autonomous Executive has prepared that document “without engaging in the necessary dialogue with the City Council, understanding that this catalog must arise from the consensus with the Administration which it directly affects”.

On the other hand, Guillermo Díaz Guerra has concluded that the Government of the Canary Islands “should have drawn up a catalog of the entire Autonomous Community, and not just the municipality of Santa Cruz de Tenerife”, a fact that the mayor describes as “an example of harassment to which the Government of the Canary Islands submits to the city”.

Díaz Guerra concludes that the Port Authority “should have respected the times before proceeding to remove the propeller from the port, being aware that there was an intention, on the part of the municipal sphere, to challenge the Catalog imposed by the Government of the Canary Islands “.

On this issue, Guillermo Díaz Guerra states that there is “no approved catalog and no commission has been met, so the Port Authority is acting arbitrarily”, which is why he demands that “the architectural values of the elements mentioned and, above all, the opinion of the City Council and the inhabitants of the city”.
