Years ago Garachico it did not have so many works and projects to improve key spaces for its future underway. La Villa y Puerto is being renovated thanks to public investment and will soon open a new approved training center in the old school of San Isidoro; has already laid the foundations of future music school; executes improvements in the public parking enabled in the old soccer field; Work continues on the access to the Callaos de Llabrés beach; repairs the field of La Caleta; prepares a museum on the 1706 eruption and, in addition, two of its most important projects in recent decades are in the administrative process: the new cultural space that will occupy the old packaging of La Fast and the large geriatric residence.
The reform of the old school of San Isidoro, valued at more than 500,000 euros, has allowed the City Council to have a rehabilitated mansion as an approved training center that will temporarily house the music school. This allows you to release the stone housewhere it is planned to set up a museum on the historic eruption this year, for which the Cabildo has granted the Consistory a grant of 325,000 euros.
The mayor of Garachica, Jose Heriberto Gonzalez (CC)announces that he hopes to put the old San Isidoro school into use around Easter (mid-April) and that its usual name will be respected: House of Music Pedro A. And it has two of its most exciting and costly projects pending execution: the cultural space for the packaging of La Fast, budgeted at around 3 million euros and still in the administrative process, and the future geriatric residence, valued at 9 million euros. This social health center would increase the number of places available for elderly dependents from 41 to 100, and give a new use to the old hospital.
