SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 19 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Innovation Service of the Cabildo de La Palma, within the framework of the La Palma Smart Island project, has installed a total of 30 wireless megaphones to facilitate warning the population in emergencies. The installation has begun in the municipalities of El Paso, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte, and will continue throughout the rest of the island.
The Minister of Innovation, Gonzalo Pascual, indicated that the devices have the capacity to communicate massively and immediately any alert situation, such as the emission of harmful gases derived from the volcano; dangerous or very adverse weather conditions; floods, or forest fires.
Each of the wireless public address systems consists of a control center and a set of loudspeakers distributed throughout the areas to be covered. The supervision and activation of these devices will be carried out by the Insular Operational Coordination Center (Cecopin).
Communication between the Cecopin and the public address points is carried out with a system via radio or IP, depending on the area, thus allowing sectorization or individual activation if necessary.
