The Canarian Institute of Hemodonation and Hemotherapy (ICHH), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, has reinforced the donor recruitment campaign in the North of Tenerife with four actions: the implementation of temporary donation points in La Guancha and in Tacoronte and two blood donation campaigns in secondary schools in the north of Tenerife, specifically in San Juan de la Rambla and La Guancha.
Last Monday a campaign was carried out in the facilities of the IES San Juan de la Rambla, promoted by the Baccalaureate students and on Tuesday, a blood donation team traveled to the IES La Guancha to host the campaign also promoted by students of High school. The ICHH organizes these collections throughout the year in the educational centers of the Islands with the aim of making students aware of the importance of donating blood, with the students being in charge of organizing the logistics of the campaign, including donation, the preparation of materials and gifts for the donors, in addition to the setting in the centers with promotional elements.
In addition, they are in charge of receiving the donors and accompanying them throughout the donation process: entrance, reception, waiting room, refreshments and photocall, as well as even the blood donation team’s own medical interview and extraction room areas.
The ICHH thanked the educational centers for their involvement in the organization of these initiatives, as well as the people who offered to donate blood in both campaigns, fundamentally, the teaching and administrative staff of the institutes, family members and the surrounding citizens.
The ICHH maintains from yesterday until the next day 24 a temporary donation point in the Tacoronte library, located at number 85 of the North General Highway. This afternoon closes the one that has been in operation since the 15th at the Municipal Training Center of La Guancha.
