The brothers Teodoro and Santiago Rios wrote a film script 30 years ago that was never shown on the screens and that has served as material for a book, edited by the City Council of Santa Cruz of Tenerifewhich narrates “the epic” of the Canarians who founded San Antonio de Texas.
The 350 copies of “Millstone” printed in its first edition will be distributed free of charge among schools and associations to divulge the contribution of the city to the history of America.
The text, which bears the signature of the Ríos brothers and José Miguel Hernán, has undergone numerous revisions and is prefaced by Manuel de Paz, professor of American History at the University of La Laguna.
The book cover illustrates the facades of the town halls of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and San Antonio de Texas, sister cities.
The Ríos brothers have always had in their eyes the history of the Canary Islands and its relations with other territories thanks to emigration.
His trilogy Guarapo, Mambí and El Vuelo del Guirre give a precise idea of how the Canarian people have evolved in the constant challenge of survival.
Teodoro Ríos does not abandon the idea of turning “Millstone” into an audiovisual product.
Hand in hand with his son, also film director and producer Guillermo Ríos, he does not give up telling the story of the Canarians who administratively founded the city of San Antonio, Texas, and launching a project that was also the dream of Dr. Alfonso Chiscano.
