Arona City Council has restructured the distribution of areas among its Government team. As DIARIO DE AVISOS learned, the mayor, José Julián Mena (PSOE), has ceded the Urban Planning delegation, which he personally assumed after the dismissal of Luis García in June 2020, to Leopoldo Díaz Oda, one of the mayors of his highest confidence that until now concentrated several areas of weight. This movement entails, in turn, more changes, since Díaz Oda will dedicate himself completely to the management of Urban Planning -in addition to being the spokesman for the PSOE in municipal plenary sessions-, which leads him to divest himself of Obras y Servicios Públicos, assumed by Ruth Alexandra Lorenzo, and Housing, led by Julia Raquel Morales.
The Culture area, which was assigned to the mayor Yurena García, on maternity leave, passes into the hands of José Alberto Delgado, councilor for Tourism and Historical Heritage. Municipal sources assure that the competence of Culture will return to Yurena García from the moment she joins the government group. The changes are completed with the creation of a mayor’s office for Ruth Alexandra Lorenzo.
Municipal sources confirmed yesterday that the changes in the municipal government team respond to a “merely organizational question, without any political background.”
