SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 18 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Deputy Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Antonio Olivera, met this Friday with representatives of the platforms and neighborhood associations affected by the La Palma volcano, who have announced a demonstration in Los Llanos de Aridane for next Friday, coinciding with the Conference of Presidents.
“The opinions of the neighbors, platforms and affected people are our roadmap in the reconstruction. For us it is key that they feel involved in the process,” Antonio Olivera explains in a note.
Thus, he comments that in the meeting they have transferred that the main urgency is to guarantee a definitive housing solution for those people who lost their homes or are still evacuated.
In this line, he recalls that currently 72 houses have been delivered out of the 102 acquired by the Government and adds that the Ministry of Housing is also finalizing rental aid, with which it is intended to provide effective support to affected people who do not They have public housing.
The meeting, held at the Citizen Attention Office in the Casa Massieu de Argual (Los Llanos de Aridane), served to set the priorities of the affected people and was attended by representatives of the neighborhood associations of Todoque, La Laguna and La Bombilla and the leaders of the Cumbre Vieja Volcano Social Association and the Platform of People Affected by the Cumbre Vieja Volcano 2021.
The associations of Las Manchas and El Remo, as well as the Citizen Support Initiative for People Affected by the Volcano of the Island of La Palma, were unable to attend the meeting.

Antonio Olivera also details that, despite the difficulties caused by the volcano, the response of the administrations is unprecedented and that is thanks to the fact that the different institutions have remained united, working hand in hand with the governments of Spain, the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de La Palma, as well as the municipalities of El Paso, Los Llanos de Aridane and Tazacorte.
“Maintaining this unit is the best guarantee we can offer to La Palma. The goal is for all the inhabitants to recover their life projects and enjoy a better island,” says Olivera.
