The residents of El Puertito de Güímar hope that this time it will be the definitive one and the riot carried out on Monday by the municipal staff will end up bearing fruit, so that rats and cockroaches do not continue to roam freely through the renovated streets of the coastal nucleus, as well as than in the neighborhood of La Caleta, in Agache.
“Rats like rabbits”, say the neighbors, who neither short nor lazy have had to set up, some of them, even their own traps to hunt rodents, which enter their homes from the street.
Given the evidence of the invasion of rats, the person in charge of Concession Companies, Airam Puerta, ordered the fumigation against cockroaches and the corresponding rat extermination. “In the case of insects, there will be a lot of impact on the sewerage areas, with the exception of La Caleta, therefore, and during the next few days, it is possible that many of them will go out onto public roads after their intoxication,” recalled the mayor, who apologized and patience “for the inconvenience.”
One of the affected neighbors comments: “A neighbor has hunted quite a few, with his own means, in a garden that he takes care of himself, near some containers and in front of the School.”
That is just a sample, since in El Puertito there is a lot of it. A problem that, apparently, is exacerbated by the attitude of some neighbors, who do not dispose of waste as it should and also by those who feed the cats.
Airam Puerta indicates that “some of the solutions would be to deratize and make residents aware so that they deposit their waste in the containers at appropriate times and punish people who misuse them, both with organic waste and with household goods, that is, , more vigilance, since nobody likes to have rodents around”.
It must be remembered that the last fumigation and rat extermination in El Puertito and the Agache coast took place in November, almost at the same time that ditches were dug in the streets to improve their pavement.
