Altavista Shelterat Teide National Park, it has appeared after last weekend with traces of occupation despite being closed many months ago. Destroyed furniture and bathrooms flooded with excrement. It is the panorama after someone has broken the seals that prevented entry and accessed the interior.
Pedro Millán, head of the Rural Development Committee of the Spanish Mountain Federation explains that “garbage has accumulated in the environment for 24 months.” And adds emphatically: “This is the waste dump at the highest altitude in all of Spain.”
The Mountain Federations are going to file a complaint with the state Autonomous Organism for National Parks for what they consider “a serious neglect” of the Cabildo, responsible for the maintenance of the Refuge and the Management of the Teide National Park.
