
The Ofra-Costa Sur district Tagor, chaired by Councilor Gladis de León and held on February 10, unanimously approved requesting the Cabildo de Tenerife (operator) and the Government of the Canary Islands (owner), the installation of acoustic panels to disperse the noise generated by the passage of vehicles on TF 5, by Somosierra and Chamberí. In addition, it was agreed, in the questions and answers section, to convene an Extraordinary Tagoror in the coming months on housing policy in the municipality.
The proposal on noise pollution is justified by the assessment report, carried out by the Territory’s Environmental Control and Management Service, in which the residents of the Rambla General García Escámez expose the inconvenience caused by exposure to noise in their homes, coming from of the TF-5 motorway, and request that the actions included in the Action Plan for the improvement of the sound environment of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Zone 6, Ofra-North Zone Plan, be initiated.
The councilor of the district, Gladis de León, pointed out the importance of the proposal “because it has been a demand of the neighbors for many years, due to the inconvenience caused by the noise of the thousands of vehicles that pass through this road daily; and by unanimity in the vote for the proposal to go ahead.
In the session, the accounting was carried out since the last tagoror, held in the month of October, and it was agreed to request Public Services to start up a dog park in the Miramar neighborhood; reorganize traffic in the neighborhood of Las Retamas, for better circulation of the different public car parks in the area; and the elaboration of murals in the public schools of the district, to value sign language.
