The Laguna Quadrilateral or the Plaza de España, in Santa Cruz, were the battlefield chosen by several young people to display all their violence last weekend. In order to ensure that these scenes do not repeat themselves, the government of the City of Advances has decided to impose controls on the four entry points to the famous leisure area of the municipality and prevent minors from accessing it, while that the city hall has chosen to increase the police presence in the streets, in collaboration with the National Police.
This was confirmed this Tuesday by the Security Councilor of the Santa Cruz City Council, Evelyn Alonso, at the microphones of Cope Tenerife, where she wanted to send a message of “tranquility” to the public, in relation to what happened in the Plaza de España . The mayor has linked these brawls with the presence of migrant minors in the capital. “We must take into account that there are several hotels destined to receive migrant minors […] that have a free circulation around the city”, he clarified. And he gave as an example another fight between young Senegalese and Moroccans that resulted in a “stabbed”.
“THEY ARE LEFT TO STICK”
For his part, the delegate of the CSIF union in the City Council, Jesús Illada, also expressed his concern about the crowd brawl which took place this weekend in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. “They are meetings that are made through social networks and that produce uneasiness among citizens, since they create insecurity and an environment that is not conducive to family life,” he assured before Cope’s microphones.
The spokesman explained that “what happens is that, although we concentrate, we don’t give any trouble. In addition, the rest of the city is left unprotected, since the bulk of the staff has to stay in the trouble spots for hours because the minors fight again at the slightest.”
