SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 14 (EUROPE PRESS) –
A total of 68,545 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 11 have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, which represents 50.07 percent of that age group. In addition, the vaccination teams of the Canary Health Service (SCS) have administered 7,690 second doses to this pediatric population, 5.69 percent of the target population.
Until yesterday, the SCS vaccination teams have administered 4,230,541 doses of vaccines against COVID-19. In the Archipelago there are already 1,828,236 people who have received at least one dose, which represents 87.15 percent of the target population in which children between 5 and 11 years of age have been included.
In addition, until yesterday, 1,723,037 people who had already received the complete vaccination schedule had been immunized, which represents 82.14 percent of the target population of the Archipelago.
At present, groups 1 to 7 (residents and healthcare and socio-healthcare staff in nursing homes; healthcare staff; large dependents and main caregivers; vulnerable people; groups with essential functions such as teachers and police officers and people with very high-risk conditions) and the 9 (population aged between 50 and 59 years that has already reached that percentage) are already vaccinated with two doses between 99.5 and 100%.
In the rest of the groups by age, the situation is as follows: Group 8, people between 60 and 65 years old, 84.48 percent with at least one dose and 70.34 percent with a complete regimen; Group 10, people between 40 and 49 years old, 61.72% with at least one dose and 89.81% with complete regimen (including those immunized with Janssen, which was originally a single-dose vaccine).
Group 11, people between 30 and 39 years old, 68.33% with at least one dose and 65.73% with complete regimen; Group 12, people between 20 and 29 years old, 65.01 percent with one dose and 60.61 percent with complete regimen; Group 13, people between 12 and 19 years old, 82.91% with one dose and 80.67% with complete regimen; Group 14, people between 5 and 11 years old, 50.07% with one dose and 5.62% with complete regimen.
Of this total of administered doses, 809,604 correspond to reinforcement doses against the coronavirus. The booster doses are indicated for all people over 18 years of age and are administered five months after having been vaccinated with the two doses if the inoculation was made with Pfizer or Moderna and three months if it was with Janssen or AstraZeneca.
The Ministry of Health insists on the importance of completing the vaccination with the booster dose to reinforce protection against COVID-19.
