La Laguna will control access to the Quadrilateral and will review the recordings to clarify the weekend’s fight

The City Council of La Laguna hosted a coordination meeting on Monday morning called by the Councilor for Citizen Security of the City Council of La Laguna, Alejandro Marrero, to redouble the efforts of the nightlife control devices in La Laguna, especially the weekends. The meeting was attended by the sub-delegate of the Government in the Canary Islands, Javier Plata, and the commanders of the Local Police, the Canary Islands Police, the National Police and the Civil Guard, among others.

Among the measures that will be taken from now on, Marrero listed a deployment of controls at the four entry points to the Quadrilateral, with the aim of monitoring and stopping any incident such as those that occurred on Saturday night. In this sense, the recordings of the security cameras installed on public roads will be reviewed to take the appropriate measures against the people who caused the altercations.

Alejandro Marrero recalls that “last October, the security measures applied to prevent the consumption of alcohol in the street and guarantee normality in the area, gave very good results. We are going to demand that coordination be redoubled by all the public order forces and increase the police presence to prevent a situation like the one we had to face at the beginning of the course in the Quadrilateral and other places of nightlife and guarantee compliance with the established regulations that allow combining the right to leisure with neighborhood rest.
