The counselor of the CC-PNC group Diana Mora has criticized the low execution of investments in the Tourism area during 2021, “because they did not even reach half of what they had planned.” “Of the 13 million euros, they only executed 5.8 and it is necessary that this money be invested to improve as a tourist destination,” said Mora, who has requested an investment of 7 million euros to improve the island’s tourist infrastructure.
Diana Mora pointed out that the low execution is “a symptom of the lack of leadership of Peter Martin and of little interest by the PSOE in a matter as important as tourism“. “Since the resignation of Martín Plata there is no adviser in the area and the result is evident: they only executed 45% of the planned investments”, he criticized.
For the councilor of CC-PNC, “You can’t afford not to spend even half of what you had budgeted. We are talking about money for infrastructure that is necessary for Tenerife to improve as a tourist destination and that could have generated employment for our companies. The low execution is not the fault of the civil servants nor of the workers, but of the lack of political impulse of the PSOE”.
Mora indicated that the report of the Treasury area of the Cabildo de Tenerife as of December 31, 2021 reveals that of the 883 million euros of the 2021 budget, only 713 were executed, which represents 80.83%, the lowest execution of the last decade. Of those 169 million that were not executed, some 124 million are from investments that were not made during the past year.
