The Telesforo Bravo-Juan Coello Foundation has denounced the appearance of headless birds in a watercourse in the Barranco del Cercado, located in the Anaga Rural Park in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The scientific dissemination and environmental protection entity has described these practices on its social networks as incompatible with the protection of the natural environment in a protected natural area and with the regulations on animal abuse.
The Foundation has previously denounced the appearance of animal remains, predictably associated with rituals, in natural areas or beaches and has underlined its respect for all creeds and beliefs, but has also warned that “there are practices that are incompatible with the regulations of protection of spaces and with that of animal welfare”.
“There are people who still do not understand that birds cannot be beheaded and thrown into water courses, in this case natural, and leave the remains of their ceremonies in the middle of nature. These people do not show respect for the society in which they live and for our heritage”, he pointed out.
The Foundation has asked that they carry out their internships in private enclosures “leaving the animals alone and stopping damaging our environment and allowing those of us who want to enjoy it in its natural state to continue doing so in peace and without frights”.
