The Town Hall of La Victoria de Acentejo has approved this Friday its municipal budget for 2022, which reaches €8,678,409 and it becomes the highest in local history. This amount represents an increase of 890,948 euros, 11.44% more, compared to the last financial year of 2021. «After a few difficult years, we return to pre-pandemic economic growth thanks to the effectiveness and efficiency in the management of our resources and the increase in the participation of State taxes. And all this without increasing fiscal pressure”, explains the mayor, Juan Antonio Garcia Abreu (PSOE).
“This is an eminently social budget that once again gives priority to people. Proof of this is that, in addition to the increase in contributions to basic healthcare services (368,059 euros), the items of the food Bank (30,000 euros) or shelter for victims of gender violence (35,000 euros). Transfers to students, entities, associations and social, cultural and sports groups are equated to pre-crisis levels and experience an increase of 14.25%. 10.29% of the budget goes to the development of educational activities (54,000 euros in scholarships), culture (75,000 euros) or sports (85,000 euros) », he details.
The investment chapter grows 42.11% and stands at 1,302,137 euros, 15% of the total. This item will allow, for example, the paving and widening of streets (197,000 euros) and the acquisition of land for an amount of 60,000 euros. García Abreu concludes that “The victory This year it also has its biggest investment plan for more than a decade”.

“Important works are going to be carried out that will not only improve our infrastructure, but will also generate opportunities for job in the locality”, warns the socialist president. In his opinion, “the investment that appears in the budget represents only the municipal percentage that must be available the Town Hall to execute historical works in the town, although the document does not reflect the amounts that other administrations will co-finance, such as the second phase of remodeling of the TF-213 (the Old Highway), to which 1,806,797 euros are allocated; the reform of the House of Dean Calzadilla (750,000 euros); rehabilitation of the environment the church of Our Lady of the Incarnation (1,900,000 euros); the construction of the roundabout of the General Highway (483,283 euros); the rehabilitation of El Pinar playground (419,729 euros); the acquisition of new electric vehicles and the creation of charging points (135,230 euros); the closing of the stands of the soccer field (138,970 euros), or the arrangement of the roof of the sports hall (129,054 euros).
Along with these actions, there are others that will be paid in full by the Insular Institute of Social and Socio-Health Care (IASS) of the Cabildo de Tenerife as the termination of the residence for the elderly (550,000 euros) or the extension of the residence for people with disabilities (290,000 euros). Or the improvement of the fields of the Secondary Education Institute for an amount of 736,000 euros, which will be assumed by the Canary Islands Government.
The municipal accounts of 2022 will also reflect a decrease in debt. Specifically, through the reduction in the number of loans contracted by the Consistory and, therefore, interest and financial expenses, since in the month of April one of the three credits signed with banking entities will be canceled.
