Arico opposes the authorization of the La Morra wind farm

The Ministry of Ecological Transition, Fight against Climate Change and Territorial Planning of the Autonomous Government, directed by José Antonio Valbuena, has legitimized the execution of the modified project of the La Morra wind farm, which had already been appealed by the Arico City Council in Court Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands (TSJC). The same court decided to bring back the file to build this complex at the moment in which the regional Executive authorized it, for not having completed the process of consulting the ariquero consistory.

The resource was supported by the City Council of Arico after its municipal plenary session on July 13, 2013, which decided by unanimous consensus “to maintain opposition to the installation of any type of wind or photovoltaic infrastructure in the territorial area of the coast, between the highway , the sea and the ravines of Las Eras and El Río”. The mayor of Arico, Sebastián Martín, showed his total rejection of this decision by the regional government, which he considers “a new outrage, yet another plague of the institutions governed by the PSOE that hangs over the municipality, now specifically the population centers Las Listadas, La Jaca and Jardín del Atlántico”. Martín indicated that “all the political parties defended in a municipal plenary session that a wind farm not be built under the highway, in compliance with that agreement, we have defended the interests of the municipality that must be respected by the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Government of the Canary Islands. ”.

Sebastián Martín added: “Not only do they legalize a park with a ruling contrary to the TSJC, but they try to order a vote in favor of the subsidiary regulations that can be made in the municipality, a constitutional nonsense. What do we do? Are we not going to run in the next municipal elections, let Mr. Valbuena come forward and decide in our municipality? We will not allow that.” After the sentence won in the TSJC, “we requested a meeting with Mr. Valbuena and he did not attend us. “Despite having asked for the meeting as a Government, the counselor met with his PSOE councilor in the municipality and with residents of Arico, promising that La Morra park was not going to be legalized and in the end his word was worth nothing. . He has deceived the neighbors and his own party in the municipality, although the facts indicate that the PSOE of Arico is in the heat of what they say and send from the supra-municipal institutions”, he said.
