The middle neighborhood of benijos this Saturday, February 12, becomes the epicenter of the horse world in the islands on the occasion of the XXI Raid Benijos, Villa de La Orotava Cuporganized by the Equestrian Association of Raid and Field Activities of Tenerife. This horse riding test of regional scope will gather in the midlands of the Valley to several of the best horsemen and mounts of the Archipelago.

This competition is governed by the general, veterinary, disciplinary and particular regulations of Raid de the Spanish Equestrian Federation and the territorial regulations of the Canarian Equestrian Federation. All riders and horses must have a valid Equestrian Federation license and will be supervised by three veterinarians who “will ensure the safety, health and welfare of the animals at all times.”
One of the requirements of this equestrian sports event is that the heart rate of the participating horse is always equal to or less than 64 beats per minute for all categories, except for the initiation category, in which it may be a maximum of 56 beats per minute. All animals will have to pass a prior veterinary examination one hour before each departure.

The 80 kilometer CEN* Raid test, which includes a total of 83.6 real kilometers, will leave at 8:00 am from the Benijos fairgrounds and will consist of three phases of 31, 31 and 21.6 kilometers. A minimum speed is established in each phase of 12 kilometers per hour and 8 kilometers per hour in the initiation category.
The organization is in charge of Aerac and the Department of Sports of the City Council of La Orotava, with the collaboration of the Government of the Canary Islands, the Insular Sports Institute of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Canarian Equestrian Federation and companies such as Transmediterránea, Howden, Jump Horse, Tienda Hípica Villar, El Trébol and Guarnicionería Juani.
