The president of Canary Islands GovernmentÁngel Víctor Torres, said this Wednesday that the south train of Tenerife is a “necessary infrastructure” to deal with the “saturation” of traffic on the island and with a “reduced” territory, but it has made it clear that it respects the “autonomy” of the council.
In an interview collected by Europa Press, he said that he knows “well” this project and that of Gran Canaria because he presented amendments to the PGE when he was a national deputy and believes that they are good means of transport that are used in large cities, they allow not consuming more land, they are an “alternative” to the car and the bus and can be “sustainable” from the environmental point of view.
Right now there is an open debate in the Cabildo de Tenerife about the suitability of this project, which is supported by CC, PP and Cs – the orange formation is part of the Government – and reject PSOE and Sí Podemos, who thus agreed in the pact of governance of Pedro Martin.
