The benijo beach, in Anaga, recovers secure access. After more than two years of work, since the beginning of this month of February, the stairs have reopened once the intervention is over, which has involved an investment of more than 250,000 euros.
This work has been carried out thanks to an agreement between the Cabildo de Tenerife and the Santa Cruz City Council, in which 85% of the total, more than 250,000 euros, was contributed by the Cabildo, also in charge of carrying out the work, and the remaining 15% was provided by the City Council. Yesterday, the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, accompanied by the councilor of the Anaga district, Macu Fuentes; that of the Environment, Evelyn Alonso, and several neighborhood representatives, went to Benijo to check in person the finish of the stairs that return the beach to normal after two years closed through this access.
The agreement between the Santa Cruz City Council and the Cabildo was signed in 2018, within the framework of the program promoted then by the Island Corporation, Tenerife and the sea. The works began in 2020, to be paralyzed after a few months due to contract problems. After several setbacks, they were finally able to resume last year, and consider them finished in 2022.
The municipal delegation toured the access to the beach, while listening to the demands of residents to improve the area.
