The fifth edition of ‘MAPAS, Mercado de las Artes Performativas del Atlántico Sur’ opens this Tuesday the period for both artists, companies and agencies from Latin America, Africa and southern Europe as well as those responsible for programming from around the world to register to participate in the 2022 edition that will be held from July 4 to 9 in Gran Canaria and Tenerife.

In its fifth edition, ‘MAPAS’ has established itself as a regional event and joins the strategies that the different administrations have implemented in the field of performing arts to reactivate the sector.

The market maintains the specialization of the meetings, to create differentiated spaces for musical and scenic disciplines, informs the Government of the Canary Islands in a note.
Gran Canaria will become the epicenter of tricontinental music with nine daily concerts and the celebration of the business conference of the music industry on July 6, while the scenic talent of the South Atlantic will meet in Tenerife, where the business conference will be will be held on July 8.

CREATORS AND AGENCIES
The call for creators and management, booking and distribution agencies for live performing arts –music, theatre, dance, street arts and circus– will remain open until March 24, 2022 and the results of the selection process , which will be in charge of an advisory committee made up of experts with recognized international experience in the field of culture, will be made public on May 9.
The set of selected proposals, with a quota of 25% of Canarian groups, will have the opportunity to participate both in the business conference and in the artistic exhibitions.
The participation of artists and companies is open to individuals, companies, groups and professional groups that carry out their activity in the disciplines in the geographic scope of Latin America, Africa and southern Europe (Spain and Portugal) or foreign residents in any of these countries. .
Among other requirements, artists must prove at least one year of experience, five live performances and a record production for music and five representations for performing arts, while agencies will have to demonstrate at least three years of experience in their activity and they will have to register at least two artistic groups or shows.
PROGRAMMERS AND CULTURAL MANAGERS
Those responsible for programming, artistic directors, curators, festival curators, cultural managers from public or private institutions and entrepreneurs from the performing arts industries are invited to register and take part in the business meetings that will take place on on July 6 and 8 in Gran Canaria and Tenerife and which will bring together the music and stage industries, respectively.
