The Canary Islands reduce infections in a day with 16 deaths with covid

After several days with figures below ten, the Canary Islands once again have a rebound similar to that of the end of January, when the historical record of the health crisis was registered in 17 deaths. On this occasion, the Ministry of Health provisionally recorded the death of 16 people linked to Covid-19 in the last 24 hours: nine on the island of Gran Canaria, six on Tenerife and one on La Palma. In total, it accumulates 1,473 deaths since the pandemic began.

Throughout the last week, Gran Canaria had remained below five daily deaths. However, it suddenly becomes the territory with the most deaths. As for hospitalizations, they amount to 660 in the Archipelago, of which 578 are active on the ward and 82 in the ICU, that is, 0.62% of the total. Another data to highlight, advanced by the Government of the Canary Islands, is the reduction in new cases of coronavirus, which currently affect 582 people.

However, the Archipelago records 157,471 cases closed due to medical discharge, of which 43,290 correspond to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and 32,154 to Santa Cruz de Tenerife. A figure that represents only 20 recoveries with respect to those registered on Monday of last week.

According to the figures provided, the Accumulated Incidence at seven days in the Canary Islands stands at 301.16 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 14 days at 825.75 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

By islands, Tenerife yesterday added 164 positive cases with a total of 122,705 accumulated cases and 49,040 epidemiologically active cases; For its part, Gran Canaria has 97,932 accumulated cases, 273 more than the previous day and, also, 45,354 active cases; Likewise, Lanzarote adds 20 new cases of Covid-19 with 18,472 accumulated and 2,944 epidemiologically active; while the island of Fuerteventura has 13,054 accumulated cases, with 53 new cases and 6,835 active ones; As for La Palma, it adds 45 new positives, so it has 8,648 accumulated and 657 active cases; Regarding El Hierro, it adds 13 new positives, so its accumulated total is 1,626 and it has 120 active cases; and, finally, La Gomera adds 14 new cases, so it has 1,546 accumulated and its assets are 89.

Until yesterday, a total of 3,136,556 diagnostic tests have been carried out on the Islands, of which 5,092 correspond to Saturday.
