The former convent of Santo Domingo, in La Laguna, today hosted the start of the 1st Feline Days of Tenerife. An analysis forum on the ethical processes of control of community or feral cat colonies and the new legislation on animal protection, which has conferences, discussion tables and an outstanding list of speakers.
Organized by the SOS Feline Association, the Red Cabama and Añaterve Veterinarios, the initiative has the support and collaboration of the Department of Animal Welfare of La Laguna and the General Directorate of Animal Rights of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030, as well as with the involvement and participation of 16 animal protectors of the Archipelago.
On its first day, the forum included the interventions of the councilor for the Animal Welfare area, José Luis Hernández, the specialists in animal law Raquel López (jurist and trainer) and Agnès Dufau (expert in the CER method), and the veterinarians Mayte Castro and Valentina Aybar. The round table was moderated by the municipal veterinarian, José Antonio Romero.
The forum closes tomorrow with the participation of Judge Pilar de Lara, the co-president of SOS Felina, Tamara Pascual Franquet, the lawyer specializing in animal law Francisca Gutiérrez, and the general director of Animal Rights of the Ministry of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 Sergio Garcia Torres. The round table will be moderated by the promoter of animal protection policies in the Islands, Mila Hormiga.
