SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Feb. 3 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The spokesperson for the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Nayra Alemán, assessed this Thursday the management of the Government of the Canary Islands to double the execution of the Reactive Plan in 2021, which has gone from having 1,540 million euros to reaching a total of 3,130 million, some data which, in his opinion, reflect the “recovery” of the economy of the islands in the face of the consequences of the pandemic.
The socialist spokesperson spoke at the first meeting of the 2022 monitoring commission, where she was satisfied with the data provided by both the Vice Minister of the Presidency of the Government of the Canary Islands, Antonio Olivera, and the Vice President of the Canary Government, Román Rodríguez, since With them, “the objectives that were required at the beginning of the Reactive Plan are being met” and in a “difficult” economic context when it was signed, in May 2020, with many economic “uncertainties”.
In this sense, he affirmed that the numbers and data of the plan are “optimal” and that they double the forecasts even in the levels of execution and maintenance of essential public services, with more than 800 million euros mobilized to achieve this objective.
“The management has not been easy at all, because it has been carried out in a scenario with no favorable circumstances, but even so, we have managed to double the figures,” he stressed.
Alemán stressed that these results reflect the “effort” of both the Canarian administration staff and the commitment of the Canarian Executive, and that, despite the few guarantees that were available in the first meetings on the execution of the plan, it has now with “solid” foundations and tangible results.
“The figures are unquestionable and it shows in the economic recovery that the archipelago is experiencing,” he stressed.
For the socialist spokeswoman, the data has been evolving in a positive way.
“This has not been by infused science or by chance, these achievements have to do with the tools with which we have provided ourselves, such as European funds, funds from the Government of Spain and funds from the Canary Islands, linked to the actions of the Executive Spanish and the Canarian, who have been in continuous coordination and with a fluid dialogue”, he commented.
“TANGIBLE” RESULTS
For this reason, Alemán assured that he does not understand the opposition’s criticism regarding the execution and results of the Reactive Plan, because “they are tangible” and cannot be discussed.
“The Vice Minister of the Presidency also explained it, that many of the data today are close to or better than the figures we had before the pandemic,” he said.
In his opinion, “the defense of the Economic and Fiscal Regime (REF), making our Canarian jurisdiction known and valued and demonstrating the solvency of this Government gives confidence, impresses seriousness and it is perceived that what is being done is known”.
In addition, he recalled that in previous meetings of the Reactive Plan, the most favorable forecasts made for the Canary Islands did not foresee economic recovery before the end of 2023 in the best of cases, and that, therefore, the data cannot be doubted. current announced in this last meeting.
“We come from the bottom of everything good and at the head of everything bad, and, even so, we have come back with all the unfavorable circumstances that have come to us, and we can boast of some great data, which we should all be happy about “, he added.
Alemán thanked the efforts of all those who have made it possible, both the public administration staff and the departments of the Government of the Canary Islands, to speed up the contracting and be able to materialize the investments and funds.
In this line, he emphasized that the Canary Islands “has made a special effort to get State funds to the Canarian business fabric, with success and an amount that stands out from the rest of the autonomous communities, since any businessman who required aid to continue working , he was able to count on those funds since the end of last year”.
