A total of 12 people have been affected after a fire broke out in the home of a seven-storey building in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as reported by the Canary Islands 112 Emergency and Security Coordination Center.
The events occurred around 03.49 hours this Friday on the third floor of a building located on Tío Pino street, at its intersection with Simón Bolívar street, of the aforementioned municipality, and members of the fire service moved to the place Tenerife, who had previously given instructions for some residents of the upper floors to confine themselves to rooms in their respective homes, while others had decided, on their own, to go up to the roof.
The firefighters then extinguished the fire and ventilated the building, which was flooded, especially on the upper floors, by a large cloud of smoke.
Subsequently, the staff of the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) treated a 41-year-old woman and a 4-year-old minor with serious smoke inhalation poisoning, who were transferred to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
Likewise, he assisted a 68-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman with moderate smoke inhalation poisoning, who were transferred to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria and the Hospital Universitario de Canarias, respectively.
In addition, a 70-year-old man with mild smoke inhalation poisoning was treated and transferred to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
At the scene, the SUC staff has also treated a 37-year-old man, as well as a 24-year-old girl, in addition to three women aged 60, 57 and 30, all due to smoke inhalation poisoning of a character mild; as well as two other people but for whom no data is available.
Members of the Coordination Center of the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council (CECOPAL) also appeared at the scene of the incident, as well as agents of the Local Police and the National Police who collaborated in the complete evacuation of the building, in addition to guaranteeing security in the area and facilitate access to emergency services.
