The company Surcar Airlines has made a demonstration flight this Monday morning with landing in the port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife. The pilot of the ship, Ulrik Nielsen, has stated that it has been “a fantastic experience” that has taken place with calm winds.
The company’s intention is to connect Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on regular 30-minute flights from next autumn, and also fly to La Palma. For now, this company has only obtained permission for this exhibition flight and for another with Gran Canaria, and not to establish regular lines.
On February 3, a second demonstration flight will take place towards the port of La Luz and Las Palmas.
The company affirms that the first operations will be aimed at a consumer niche focused on the business traveler and some tourist passengers during the weekends, groups that it estimates will represent “about 15,000 passengers per year.”
