SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the Government of the Canary Islands, Julio Pérez, said this Thursday that the data on the decrease in infections by coronavirus – almost 50% in the last week – are “hopeful” although he has recognized that all indicators are still at risk. high or very high.
In the press conference after the Governing Council, he commented that it has gone from some 32,000 infections to just over 17,000 and the cumulative incidence in 7 days drops by almost 50%, around 40% in the case of those over 65 years.
However, he specified that the pressure data of the healthcare system are more “stabilized” and their reduction is much less than that of infections, around 7%, given that the transfer to the hospital environment “is not immediate”.
Pérez has also said that it has been extended until May 31 that a ‘Covid certificate’ is not required to stay in tourist complexes and also the expansion of capacity in public transport.
Likewise, it has reported that almost 1,500 teachers are infected by Covid-19, just over 4%, and about 12,000 students, stressing that not all teachers are on sick leave and many have continued to telework.
