The Insular Commission of the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (Fecam) has analyzed Decree Law 1/2022, which adopts urgent measures in urban and economic matters for the construction or reconstruction of habitual residences affected by the volcanic eruption in La Palma and has requested that it be extended to the entire island.
In this regard, the commission agreed that “taking into account that the interest of the people affected by the volcanic eruption must prevail above all else”, the scope of application must be for the entire island and not just the municipalities of El Paso. , The Plains of Aridane and Tazacorte.
In this way, they indicate, “those affected, within their freedom of choice, will be allowed to build their habitual residence under the same exceptional conditions as those established in any of the island’s municipalities.”
