The Minister of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands, Blas Trujillo, confirmed that his department intends to resume the expansion works of the Tacoronte health center in March.

The announcement was made on Wednesday afternoon during the visit he made to the municipality accompanied by the mayor, José Daniel Díaz, and his government team. In this context, he reported that his department had carried out the necessary procedures to proceed with the tender and award of the works, after modifying the original project. In that sense, he assured that the regional government will provide the necessary amounts to correct the economic changes that, in turn, will also represent an improvement in the services provided by this center for the entire region.

Blas Trujillo went to the health center with the intention of learning about the consequences of the provisional stoppage of the works at the end of August last year because it was necessary to draw up a modified project that the medical director of the work had to do with the approval good of the contract, to be able to resume work.

With the completion date of the same, he warned that “it was very prudent”, above all, taking into account that the successful bidder requested an extension of the completion period until January 5, 2023 due to the new circumstance. tentative but early next year it will be ready. The important thing is that we get back to them as soon as possible,” he said.

Díaz expressed his satisfaction that the counselor traveled to Tacoronte to explain how the file is, upon request by the City Council, and ensured that he trusts that this action will restart as soon as possible.

Díaz recalls that after the stoppage of the works, the government group requested a meeting with both the Minister and the Director General of Public Health of the Government of the Canary Islands to inquire about their resumption.

“After this confirmation, an important step has been taken to have a health center for primary care and specialties at the height of the circumstances we are experiencing,” stressed José Daniel Díaz.
