The Department of Finance and Economic Affairs of the City Council of La Laguna has enabled a new service so that citizens can domicile their taxes automatically through the internet. From now on, therefore, the neighbors have the possibility of managing their receipts, from anywhere and in a comfortable and simple way, by entering the Virtual Taxpayer Office (OVC).

The mayor, Luis Yeray Gutiérrez, pointed out that “the implementation of this automated system allows the procedure to be simplified to save time for the population, because now it is enough to have an electronic signature to be able to carry out the procedure, and resources to the Corporation, which at year manages thousands of files of this type.

The local councilor highlighted the boost that the Consistory has given to the portfolio of telematic public services. “Especially as a result of the health crisis, to offer agile, efficient and proactive care, improving the fluidity of communication between citizens and the City Council and the flow of information. We will continue to take steps in this direction, because we must face the challenge of modernizing the Administration”, he stated.

In order to advance in its adaptation to the new times, the Councilor for Finance and Economic Affairs, Alejandro Marrero, specified that from the area “important steps have been taken in this line to facilitate management”, such as with the creation of codes QR to request an appointment, the start-up of the new Virtual Taxpayer Office and the enabling of the tax domiciliation system. “All of this translates into greater convenience for the population, in saving resources for the Corporation and in boosting files,” he added.

Specifically, the mayor explained that the department managed some 2,500 files of this type during the past year, “which sometimes concluded with requests to the neighbor due to lack of data or documents, which entails many resources, more work and delay in processing the files.

Now, thanks to the new system, “this is simplified through the Office. With just the electronic signature certificate, citizens have the possibility of direct debiting their receipts in a simpler and totally secure way, since the management can only be carried out when the person who enters with their electronic signature certificate and the holder of the debt coincide”, pointed out Alejandro Marrero.

Regardless of the route chosen to carry out this procedure, the councilor stressed that the population that carries it out will obtain a bonus of 5% of the fees.
