Bar associations and attorneys receive 11.9 million for free assistance and office shift

SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Jan. 27 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Government Council of the Canary Islands has known this Thursday the subsidies granted in the second half of 2021 to the bar associations and solicitors of the islands for the provision of free legal assistance and the ex officio shift, which have been processed by the Ministry of Public Administrations Justice and Security and whose total amount amounts to 11,980,286.98 euros.

These grants have been awarded to the bar associations of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de La Palma and Lanzarote for a total amount of 10,823,759.98 euros, and to the bar associations of Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife , for 1,156,527 euros.

Regarding the list of subsidies, a total of 5,694,338.83 euros have corresponded to the Santa Cruz de Tenerife Bar Association; 4,068,452.64 euros to the Las Palmas Bar Association; 644,063.16 to that of Lanzarote; and 416,905.35 to Santa Cruz de La Palma.

As for the Bar Associations, the one in Santa Cruz de Tenerife has been granted 621,792 euros in subsidies, and the one in Las Palmas, a total of 534,735 euros.

With this accounting, the General Budget Law of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands for 2021 is complied with, which establishes that the Canarian Executive will be informed every six months of the subsidies granted to the bar associations and attorney general by the person in charge of the competent department, details the Government in a note.

OTHER SUBSIDIES

The Ministry of Public Administrations, Justice and Security, through its owner, Julio Pérez, has also reported the subsidies granted directly, the amount of which does not exceed 150,000 euros, which have been granted during the fourth quarter of 2021 and whose reason responds to the public interest to favor the best functioning of the Administration of Justice.

Among others, it has reported the delivery of a subsidy for 80,000 euros to the Canarian Council of Attorneys Associations for expenses for the maintenance of the service of receiving notifications and transfer of writings.
