The plenary session of the City Council of La Orotava yesterday unanimously approved an institutional declaration to request the unification of the judicial districts of La Orotava and Puerto de la Cruz, a demand raised by the deans of both judicial districts that already has the support of the entire Corporation made up of CC, PSOE, Assembly for La Orotava and PP.
Until now, the request had been well received by the mayors of the two municipalities, Marco González and Francisco Linares. The latter once again offered public land, “just as it was done twelve years ago,” he said, although he did not specify whether it will be located in the two alternatives that were considered at that time: a plot adjoining the San Jerónimo industrial estate (although the plot was not is owned by the municipality) or in the area of La Playita, whose urbanization works have been paralyzed for some time.
CC spokesman, Narciso Pérez, explained the advantages that this merger would entail, which would also benefit San Juan de la Rambla, Los Realejos, Santa Úrsula, La Victoria and La Matanza de Acentejo.
Currently there is a judicial district in the Tourist City that is made up of three courts of instruction and first instance and another in La Orotava that has 5. In the case of unification, there could be 12 courts and it would mean the creation of others exclusive of violence of gender, “a legal and effective tool to eradicate it from our society and our family,” said Pérez.
The spokespersons for the three opposition groups, PSOE, Assembly for La Orotava and PP, Manuel González, Aida Salazar and Patricia Fernández, respectively, considered that the measure will benefit all citizens and help streamline the service.
For his part, Linares confirmed that “there is an agreement by all the mayors of the aforementioned municipalities for the process to start. It is a historical demand from a long time ago,” he recalled.
In the first ordinary plenary session of this year, the proposal of the Socialist group was also unanimously supported to prepare a study of the accessibility situation of the population centers and make a diagnosis of the accessibility conditions in which those of older people are found. in the town.
At the same time, the Cabildo de Tenerife is urged to carry it out through the public company Simpromi, understanding that it can be done in phases, just like the possible intervention plan in the areas that require it given the complex orography of La Orotava. .
