The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will not give up its plots for the carnivals

The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will not assume the celebration of Carnival acts on the esplanade that the City Council has required for the festivities as it is a plot of port use, and whose operations cannot cease for 60 days for these festive events .

The availability of said plot is a priority for this port use, the Authority insisted in a statement indicating that the occupation would last for practically two months, a period unaffordable by the port entity, which must guarantee the provision of services in the dock from Los Llanos.

The proposal of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife for the location of the Carnival events was not known in detail until yesterday afternoon, Tuesday, during the Port-City Commission, explained the Port Authority.

In this meeting, the representatives of the corporation announced for the first time their proposal to celebrate the acts of the so-called “Official Carnival”, that is, the galas, with certain and immovable conditions, unknown until then and not agreed upon by Puertos de Tenerife and that have been revealed in principle as unacceptable, continues.

The Port Authority proposes to explore all the possibilities of other more appropriate venues for the celebration, such as the Fairgrounds and the esplanade attached to the Plaza de España, even if this means resizing the stage or readjusting the dates of the celebration.

“This proposal to occupy the port for 60 days for twelve continuous events completely departs from the agreement that had been reached with the City Council to hold specific musical acts in the port area in a number not exceeding three a year,” adds the Port Authority.
