The port of Santa Cruz de Tenerife will not be able to assume the celebration of the so-called Official Carnival in the port esplanade proposed by the capital city council, as it is a plot in which port operations are carried out and whose availability is a priority for this use.
And it is that the occupation of said plot would last for practically two months, a period unaffordable by the port entity that must guarantee the provision of services in the Los Llanos dock.
The proposal of the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife was not known in detail until this afternoon, during the course of the Port-City Commission, a meeting in which the representatives of the corporation made their celebration proposal known for the first time, with some conditions determined and immovable, hitherto unknown and not agreed upon by Puertos de Tenerife and that have been revealed in principle as unacceptable.
The Port Authority proposes to explore all the possibilities of other more appropriate venues for the celebration, such as the Fairgrounds and the esplanade attached to the Plaza de España, even if this means resizing the stage or readjusting the dates of the celebration.
This proposal to occupy the port for 60 days for twelve continuous events is completely different from the agreement that had been reached with the city council to hold occasional musical acts in the port area in a number not exceeding three per year.
In addition to this item on the agenda, the rest of those included on the agenda were discussed with common positions on both sides.
