Icod de los Vinos attended the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Fair, Fitur 2022, with technological innovations for the municipality’s tourism sector. The promotion that the City Council devised for this edition of the fair was based on the promotion of one of the most deeply rooted traditions of the municipality, the Tablas de San Andrés, through augmented virtual reality, Icod 360. Without a doubt, a formula that left no one indifferent.

The mayor of Icod de los Vinos, Francis González, presented at a press conference from Ifema (Madrid) Icod 360, an application that, through a QR code and in a simple, easy and convenient way to use, you can download and enjoy the sensation that is experienced, when “lying down” on a board, through the steepest streets of Icod such as el Plano, calle Hércules and San Antonio.

Through virtual reality glasses and using this digital tool, they will be able to enjoy, live, feel the drag of the Icod Tables and experience a unique experience. They will be able to choose the streets, choose to lie down alone, accompanied, on small boards or on boards.

This initiative will only be the beginning of the project, since the Icod de los Vinos City Council is working to offer a tool that also makes the history of San Andrés known.

FITUR

Almost 7,000 companies and 107 countries have participated in the 42nd edition of the International Tourism Fair, which will be part of the most important fair dedicated to tourism, and which will last until January 23, 2022.

Compared to last year, with the number of companies reduced to 5,000, the number of participants increased by 39.7%.

In addition, it almost doubles the States and international representatives who attended the fair in person in 2021.

It will welcome both professionals from the tourism sector, interested in the latest trends in the sector, as well as the general public, who wants to know first-hand the destinations on offer. It will also be held online.

Exposing their products and services allows companies to present news and strategies, attract new partners and distributors from around the world, contact “face to face” with current customers and suppliers or create or strengthen brand positioning, among many other things.

An extraordinary showcase to value the tourist resources of Icod de los Vinos and present to the world a singular and unique destination such as our City.
