Two strategic projects for Santa Úrsula have obtained state funding thanks to two amendments by the parliamentary group of Nueva Canarias (NC) in the Congress of Deputies.
It is about the adequacy, restoration and adaptation of the Captain’s House to create a seabed museum there. The action has 1.5 million, which are included in the item of an additional 101 million that Deputy Pedro Quevedo obtained through two amendments in the General State Budgets (PGE) for 2022.
This amount is added to the 210,000 euros that were included in the accounts of the Autonomous Community of 2021 for the acquisition of the property that was materialized by the Government of the Canary Islands in 2021 and that will be transferred to the Santa Úrsula City Council this same year, confirms the coordinator of the NC local committee, Valentín Correa, who at the same time is responsible for the formation of the island.
Also the remodeling of the surroundings of the church square, declared a Site of Cultural Interest (BIC) and part of Mayor Fernando Luis Street, are paid for with state money thanks to the same procedure.
The amendment was presented in 2018 but the Consistory requested an extension and this year it is becoming effective. In this case, the amount granted by the General Directorate of State Heritage amounts to 300,000 euros, which is completed with a contribution from the municipal coffers.
“With these actions, NC’s commitment to the municipality is once again demonstrated as it is the only political formation that has taken it into account when proposing investments in the General State Budgets”, emphasizes Valentín Correa.
