the mayor of Icod of the Wines, Francis Gonzalez (CC), accuses the mayor and former mayor Moncho Leon, of Somos Icodenses, of «crossing red lines continuously and for a long time», especially with regard to «the recovery project of San Marco beach». And he regrets that “he was angry and furious when he found out, in the information commission, that Costas had given the green light to the project of the beach with natural sand».

“Honestly, I can’t get out of my amazement to see how Moncho Leon intends to continue with the attitude of continually lying to our neighbors, and denying what happened, when there are councilors who were direct witnesses, and accidentally, of what he said during the celebration of the informative works commission and in transit for the holding of the informative commission of Social services on December 21, 2021, “says González.

The mayor explains that “after giving an account to the spokesman councilor for the Canarian Coalition, Rafael Hernandez Alonso, of the approval of Costas del Estado to the project presented by the Government of the Canary Islands, which includes the proposal for the recovery of San Marcos Beach Realized by the plenary session of the City Council of Icod, at the proposal of this mayor; the councilman Moncho Leon he uttered, during a telephone conversation that could be heard because he kept the micro of his computer open, insulting expressions in which he referred to the members of the current local government as these sons of… they managed to approve the beach project».

“He also said, when speaking with his telephone interlocutor and, in reference to the works and roads engineer Emilio Grande, what a blunder it has been to hire this technician and that this has been like putting the fox to guard the chickens, for being the author of the initial Gesplan project and later being hired by Gestur to give continuity to the project and adapt it to the changes proposed by the plenary session of the City Council of Icod, at the initiative of the CC-Cs Government”, says González. And, in addition, he adds that «the councilor of We are Icodenses, before dismissing his interlocutor, he said in front of everyone that Carlos is no longer there… I’ll let you know that this is going to start, in reference to the beginning of the aforementioned Social Services commission».

The local government calls on the opposition to “work so that the plenary agreements are fulfilled, not to prevent them”

“I have not crossed any red line nor has my government group crossed it,” insists the mayor of Icod, who emphasizes that “on the contrary, Moncho Leon yes, he continues in his line of crossing as many red lines, and of all colors, as he finds on his way». In the opinion of Francis Gonzalez, «An outburst, as he says, is not making such expressions referring to the government group, his colleagues in the corporation, or whoever… And neither is it in any case likely to be shown as justifiable. There is no justification to say what he said and less to go out later in the press, and write on social networks, denying or hiding what really happened.

«He could and should have apologized when he found out that he had been heard; because it is what is expected of a civic and respectful person, especially if he holds a public office. And there is still time to do it”, says the mayor of Icod. For Francis Gonzalez, León “could, should have and should apologize to Mr. Emilio Grande, who is a professional of recognized prestige, as well as president of the College of Civil Engineers and Ports of the Canary Islands, who has not only done his job well, but has also committed himself and become fond of our beach».

The president of the City of Drago demands that the former mayor of Somos Icodenses apologize for insulting the local government (CC-Cs)

The nationalist leader asks the spokesman for We are Icodenses that “it does not continue to oppose the plenary agreements resulting from our democratic system, and that it works so that they are fulfilled and not to prevent their fulfillment.” In reference to “the agreements of May 5, 2020, April 27, 2021, November 27, 2021 and the agreement by which, before the end of 2021, more than 1.6 million euros of the remaining cash had been incorporated to carry out, with their own funds, the works in the premises and the avenues of the beach».

“Agreements that involve the immediate replacement of the natural sand, the elimination of the dikes in the Amarca area, the opening of the jets of the large quay, the carrying out of the necessary studies through physical models for setbacks, using the land according to the agreement with the yacht club, or the relocation or elimination of the fishing refuge. Agreements that involve the execution by the City Council of the works on the land part, cleaning up the premises and the avenues, in the two sections, ”he explains.

González demands that León “do not deny either that he has been saying, since he lost the elections, that he had left a million euros for the sand on the beach when he knew and knows that the state never gave it even though he asked for it since 2018 ».
