Pedro Martín, president of the Cabildo de Tenerifee, insinuated yesterday that the builder Antonio Plasencia is behind the complaint of the works committee of the Social and Health Care Institute (IASS) against the transfer of the elderly from the Febles Campos Hospital to a new residence in the Diocesan Seminary managed by the company Clece, of the Florentino Pérez group. “The complaint comes from a union representative [José Luis Gutiérrez, presidente del comité de empresa del IASS] committed since the last mandate to bring the new center for the elderly to a building owned by a businessman who is in jail [por caso Las Teresitas]», Martin told Cope Canarias.
Pedro Martín refers to Antonio Plasencia, who left Tenerife I prison in the summer of 2020 after a year and four months upon receiving the third prison degree for paying off his debt to the City Council of Santa Cruz de Tenerife originating from the Las Teresitas case, for which he was sentenced to five years.
As for the building, Martín refers to one built by Plasencia in Cabo Llanos, Santa Cruz, who wanted to buy the government of the previous Cabildo to place the elders of Febles Campos there. Precisely Plasencia delivered this building as part of the payment to settle the debt of the Las Teresitas case and now the City Council is studying selling it to the Government of the Canary Islands, interested in installing Justice offices there.
The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife explained that this is “an office building in which not even the elevators comply” to become a geriatric residence. Regarding the complaint from the works council of the IASS, which has generated a judicial investigation in which the president of the Cabildo appears as a defendant, Martín classified it as “pressure” to “boycott” the relocation of the chronically ill from Febles Campos to the Diocesan Seminary based on “perks.” «He denounces me because he asks me for a meeting and I don’t give it to him. He had to meet with his bosses first. I am not going to accept those pressures, ”Pedro Martín made clear.
