The Roads area of the Cabildo de Tenerife will continue with the rehabilitation of the TF-5 surface during the next week with a 10-kilometre stretch between the municipalities of Los Realejos and Icod de los Vinos.
The rehabilitation works of the TF-5 road surface have a budget of over twelve million euros and an execution period of 10 months. The entire action is carried out between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. the next day with the necessary signaling and traffic diversion.
On Sunday, January 23, Monday 24 and Tuesday 25, the pavement work will be carried out between kilometer points 39 and 49, with the corresponding alternative traffic diversions on the road by signal operators.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, January 26, pavement work is being carried out on TF5 at the La Higuerita junction, in the municipality of Los Realejos. For this, it is necessary to cut off traffic at exit 38 in both directions of traffic.
On Thursday, January 27, the work continues at the Mayorazgo link in the municipality of La Orotava. There will be a traffic cut at exit 34 in both directions of traffic.
The Vice President and Island Councilor for Roads, Enrique Arriaga, stated in a statement that an average of one kilometer is resurfaced every day, for which some 800 tons of asphalt are required.
Arriaga indicates that the rehabilitation of the TF-5 will be completed in the coming months and points out that since the work began, more than twenty kilometers have been rehabilitated.
The insular director of Roads, Tomás Félix García, has added that for the comfort of drivers and the safety of users, a section does not start until the one that is being worked on is completely completed, a rehabilitation that is being carried out at night to reduce the effect on traffic.
In addition, he has stated that it is an “innovative work at the national level” because 50% of the current pavement is being reused, exactly the same as in the works of the TF-1; which means a lower consumption of natural resources and the reduction of waste generated, making it a more sustainable and environmentally friendly work.
