Titsa gains 7.5 million passengers in 2021 to exceed the global figure of 36.5

Tenerife Intercity Transport (TITSA), company of council, increased its number of travelers last year by 25.89% compared to 2020, reaching a total of 36,648,611. The growth was 7,536,897 passengers, divided into 5,893,537 more on intercity lines and 1,643,360 on urban routes.

The Minister of Mobility and President of titsaEnrique Arriaga, describes as “very positive” the data that endorse “the commitment to public transport and the work of the company’s professionals in adapting services to demand, by reorganizing lines or new ones, as well as facilitating payment methods». For his part, the insular director of Mobility, José Alberto León, explains: “The company has adapted its services as demand increased.” He adds: «Public transport has proven to be a safe means for passengers and workers against Covid-19, thanks to the collaboration of all».

Interurban lines moved 27,745,613 passengers, 27% more than in 2020, while urban lines handled 8,902,998 passengers, with a 22.6% increase. The recovery of the demand takes place from June of last year and is accentuated and consolidated in the final months, with increases that exceed 42%. Thus, those with the highest influx of passengers were November, with 3,853,192, and October, with 3,643,757 travellers.

The lines that transported the most customers last year were the 014, which connects Santa Cruz and La Laguna via La Cuesta, with 2,491,688 people (+28.36%); Route 467, Costa del Silencio-La Caleta de Adeje, with 1,573,314 passengers (+15.40%), and Route 934 (Santa Cruz-Santa María del Mar-Santa Cruz) with 1,503,987 (+22.68%). ).

The southern area of ​​Tenerife registered an increase of 21.40%, which translates into 7,396,712 passengers transported. The north accounted for 3,816,142 users, 26.97% more. The line that transported the most passengers was 363, Puerto de la Cruz-Buenavista via Icod de los Vinos, with 810,624 (+34.18%). The metropolitan area added 11,101,112 passengers, with an increase of 26.41%. In addition to the 014, the 015 (Santa Cruz-La Laguna via the TF-5) added 1,291,765 (+29.42%). The urban service of Santa Cruz de Tenerife registered an increase of 21.52% compared to the previous year and reached the figure of 8,121,383 passengers transported. The one in La Laguna, with 781,615, recorded a rise of 35.61% compared to 2020. The long-distance lines added 5,431,647 passengers, with an increase of 36.74% compared to 2020. The 110 (Interchanger of Santa Cruz-Costa Adeje) recorded the highest number of passengers with 1,344,762 (+51.01%).
