Dolores Espinosa, councilor of United We Can (Izquierda Unida-Podemos-Equo), requests an urgent and definitive solution to a plague of mosquitoes that the population around the Parque de Las Indias, in the chicharrero neighborhood of Peru, has been suffering, as well as the students of the Integrated Center for Vocational Training.
The clear indications shown by residents in the area suggest that the origin of the problem is to be found on municipally owned land, located on the corner of Eduardo Westerdhal and Buenaventura Bonnet streets, where there used to be a pond, which was covered with stones at as a result of a girl drowning, and where water continues to circulate underground.
During a visit to the area, the mayor has been able to verify the existence of this plague and the visible humidity in the land as well as in the wall that closes it towards the street. In this place are the remains of the old pond and the underground current of water can be heard, part of which, according to residents in the neighborhood, is poured into the sewage network, which, apparently, does not prevent another part from remaining. impounded
The councilor has verified that the proliferation of these insects also affects the Las Indias FP institute, as the director has indicated, as well as other people linked to the center, who even sent a letter to EMMASA to request that it intervene, It’s not the first time they’ve had this problem.
The presence of mosquitoes in this educational center is especially annoying in the evening, since classes are taught until 8:00 p.m.
In the neighborhood some residents have had to put mosquito nets in their homes to prevent the entry of these insects and some people showed the councilwoman the bites on their skin. The use of insecticides in some homes is also frequent for this reason, and Espinosa heard the dramatic testimony of a person who suffers from a severe migraine and cannot stand the smell of aerosols but is forced to use them to combat mosquitoes.
In view of these facts, Espinosa has announced that he will take the initiative to request the intervention of the Santa Cruz City Council so that the current plague is eradicated as well as for the search for a definitive solution, which also involves analyzing whether the waters that are discharged on these lands they are only from rain runoff or they may be contaminated with sewage, and determine how this soil can be drained to put an end to the problem.
Added to these facts is the risk of landslides on this site, since there was already a recent landslide.
