The City Council of Santiago del Teide organizes the VIII edition of the “Líricas del Almendro 2022” Contest, integrated into the programming of the Almendros en Flor Campaign and whose presentation period will end on March 11, at 2:00 p.m.; emphasizing that it is aimed at students of 3rd to 6th of Primary and from 1st to 4th of ESO of the different schools of the municipality.
The topic should be about “Almond Blossom”, with the objective of making it known as part of our natural environment. In addition to this, the modality of the contest will be the “haiku” a poetic stanza originating from classical Japanese literature that aims to express in just 3 lines a brief, sincere feeling arising from the contemplation of nature.
Regarding the mode of presentation and format, the haikus must be delivered as a handwritten document -having to respect the different structural, grammatical and orthographic rules of said literary modality-, and must contain a minimum of 1 stanza with the structure 5-7-5 -with up to a maximum of 4 stanzas- and which must be accompanied by a drawing that reflects its content.
Likewise, the participating haikus will be presented on a single-sided DINA-4 sheet, including the drawings to support the text; although, in the same way, a sheet with the information of the contestant student must be attached (name and surname of the author, course, age, name of the school and of the teacher-director, address of the author and contact telephone number ).
Regarding the place of presentation, it is worth mentioning that the aspiring works will be presented, through the director or representative of the educational center to which the student belongs, in the Entry Register of the City Council and/or through the Electronic Office of the City Council before the closing date of the presentation period – March 11, at 2:00 p.m.
If for any reason the center to which the student belongs declines to participate, it may be done individually, with the presentation mode being the same, that is, through the Electronic Office and/or in the General Registry.
On the other hand, all the haikus presented will be subject to a series of selection criteria by the jury appointed for this purpose and which will have the following premises:
– Compliance with the haiku structure (5-7-5): Up to max. from 6 points.
– Incorporates a related drawing or painting: Up to max. from 4 points.
– Adaptation to the theme “ALMOND FLOWER” until a max. of 3 points.
-Contains a kigo: 2 points.
– Contains more than one stanza: 1 point per stanza.
In this sense, the jury will be chaired by the Council of Education of the consistory, counting as members with qualified people linked to the world of narrative and/or literature, as well as a secretary, who in this case will act as such the technique of the Department of Education; emphasizing that the verdict of the jury will take place on April 8, 2022 and in it 8 winners will be designated, grouped as follows:
– 3rd AND 4th OF PRIMARY: TWO WINNERS.
– 5TH AND 6TH OF PRIMARY: TWO WINNERS.
– 1st AND 2nd OF ESO: TWO WINNERS.
– 3rd AND 4th OF ESO: TWO WINNERS.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that the winning haikus will become the property of the City Council of Santiago del Teide, being able to make free use of them; although once the contest is over, the non-awarded haikus must be withdrawn by the directors of the educational centers within a maximum period of 2 months, from may 27th. After this period, the organization will be released from all responsibility for unclaimed stories.
