The wind has knocked down in the last few hours about eight linear meters of the wall that delimits the work of an unfinished hotel next to the promenade of the tourist town of Costa Teguise (Lanzarote). The avenue is traveled daily by many residents and tourists, so the deteriorated state of several areas of the building’s perimeter construction poses a constant risk to pedestrians.
The building, of which only the foundations were raised, is located in the stretch between the Barceló Teguise Beach hotel and Jablillo beach.
Fortunately, the pieces of the wall, which had been fractured in different places for a long time, fell into a space between the small stone wall that surrounds the maritime avenue and the perimeter of the abandoned establishment.
Lanzarote continues today in a yellow warning (pre-alert) due to strong winds together with Fuerteventura and the metropolitan area of Tenerife. Gusts can reach 70 kilometers per hour in coastal areas facing north and west in the case of the two eastern islands, and in high areas and northern slopes in Tenerife. This notice will be in effect until 2:59 p.m. today.
In addition, the entire Archipelago is on yellow notice due to haze.
