The Local Government Board of El Rosario approved this Tuesday the addendum to the agreement signed with the Cabildo for the reform of the urban crossing of the TF-226, known as sun street. With this, the City Council will invest almost 773,000 euros, which will increase to 806,190 euros with the sale of the two plots necessary to build the roundabout. The mayor of El Rosario, Scholastic Gil, celebrates the achievement of a construction project that «comes to solve a problem of insecurity on a road that is a real traffic black spot suffered by neighbors and visitors, especially in the rainy season».
The TF-226 insular road constitutes an urban crossing of La Esperanza in its first 640 meters. Large flows of traffic from the towns of Agua García and La Esperanza and those of the urban road that it has become converge in it, giving rise to road risk situations so that it is the section of the municipal network with the most accidents. . two of them resulting in death.
The project benefits from an investment of 2,716,179 euros, the rest being an insular contribution. The City Council will carry out interventions on sidewalks, both paving and adjustments to facades; landscaped areas, supply facilities (connections and tertiary), sanitation (connections and collectors), drainage (connections), low voltage (connections and channels), lighting, medium voltage (channels), telecommunications (connections and channels); street furniture (benches and litter bins) and replacements.
The signing of the agreement took place in May 2019Therefore, the price update and the incorporation of improvements motivates the municipal contribution to increase from the initial 540,000 euros to the aforementioned 773,000 euros. It should be remembered that the delay of the project and the absence of an item to execute it in the budgets of the Cabildo last year led the City Council of El Rosario to file, in April, an appeal before the Contentious-Administrative Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice de Canarias (TSJC) against the plenary agreement in which the insular government rejected a claim by the mayor of Rosario, so that the budget included a specific item for El Sol street.
Together with the approval of the addenda to the agreement, the Local Government Board gave its approval to the transfer to the City Council of El Rosario of the ownership of the section of the TF-226 that make up its first 640 meters.
The works
The project for the complete reform of El Sol street includes widening and improving the TF-226 as it crosses La Esperanza, fitting out sidewalks and parking lots, improving supply, sanitation, drainage and public lighting facilities; incorporate the channeling of future electricity and telecommunications networks; place horizontal and vertical road signs and replace the enclosing walls of the properties adjacent to the road.
In addition, at the intersection between TF-226 and Calle La Fuente, a roundabout is planned with a six-meter-wide lane and a one-and-a-half meter widening in the interior area, to facilitate the turning of rigid vehicles of up to twelve meters long.
